I work in a call center for a company who handles military claims. Military members and spouses can be some of the most egotistical self entitled jerks in the entire world.. Nothing worse than getting a officer on the line thinking because he can push his authority on soldiers he can do the same to civilian employees. I can let actually soldiers slideslide but I will not take crap from a spouse. I always get the “we serve our country” line from a spouse. No your husband or wife serves not you. And 75 percent of them only get married for the extra benefits so how bout you stfu with that self entitled attitude.
Constantly we are getting screamed at or talked down to by providers and beneficiaries for problems we don’t even cause. Either a claim is not submitted right or requested info is not received. Then the classic, getting chewed out for something that you find out was a mistake by a department not on the phones. Must be nice to not hear the wrath for your mistakes clown.
Recently since the transfered a lot of people to a different contract, we are backup on correspondence Overtime yes? Hell naw! 40 hrs is too much some weeks
Most of the people on the phones are miserable. After a while it drags. It’s never a day I don’t dread going to work. Same stuff different day. We have various training offered periodically and its very common to hear someone’s answer as to why they signed up for the class was to have time off the phones. Some people like to dangle that off the phones stipulation around like a carrot. I applied for a job in a different department which does not take phone calls which I was offered a position I would have been happy to take it for the same pay but they want to take about a $2000 a year pay cut to take it with the only incentive given was “At least you will be off the phones” We don’t make that much anyway and I Uber drive on the weekends to have a little breathing room. So I quickly passed on that.
I’ve interviewed for some other jobs lately. Hopefully one of those will come through.
