So working in a cinema when a huge blockbuster comes out such as Star Wars is always quite a challenge for the staff. When you work in an IMAX the scope is a little bit more pressurised. For the most part the customers have been great, but you always get that ONE nitwit who thinks it’s their duty to tell you how to do your job AND claim that you are lying to their faces! Anyway, this guy came up to me at the end of the show and says ‘Are you a manager?’ To which I reply ‘No, I’m a supervisor, can I help you at all?’ He had a complaint about having to exit the screen down the stairs and after I had explained to him that it was simply health and safety he tells me to ‘stop with that shit’ and give him a proper reason. I tried to stay as calm as possible whilst imagining punching the guy in the face(hey I’m stressed!’ This went back and forth a few times as I continued to apologise but that’s the way it is. He then asks if we have a building evacuation plan(yes) and that he wants to see it. I’m sorry mister building inspector but I don’t take orders from a pent up little man with nothing better to do than complain. Assuming he’d left as I was pulled away to deal with other things, I tried to explain the situation to my somewhat intimidating manager when the guy comes stomping over saying ‘Are you the real manager, not this one?!’ Pointing at me. When I reiterated that I was a supervisor and had told him that he then calls me a liar and start getting abusive saying I’m standing there with a smirk on my face(I wasn’t, I think he mistook my facial expression for confusion) Now normally I’m not one to rant and rave but there was something about this one man that put me in a bad mood for the rest of the night. I, like so many other people in the service industry try my best even when I’m feeling like crap and it’s times like this that makes me think why should I be nice if its not going to be returned? Anyway, I hope everyone else is having a great festive season and customers are trying to be understanding than this one man!
