So I work in a gun store, its great, I get to work with a hobby of mine. But I still face a lot of the same retail crap that most others here will recognize. But theres one really stressful thing about working in a gun store. Gun stores get robbed about as much as pharmacies and liquor stores. Everyone who works at our store has a concealed carry permit, and we all know that any nutcases who try to rob a gun store are probably gonna have guns too, because we assume they know we’re gonba be armed.
Let me tell you, the sign on the front of all gun stores that says “guns must be stored in a case or bag, no open firearms beyond this point” is so we can identify our patrons from methhead about to hold up the place with a hunting rifle. So, if you walk into the store with your handgun in your hand, waving it around like its a toy, don’t be surprised when you end up looking down half a dozen muzzles and the silent alarm gets tripped. Try to understand that if we get held up and robbed successfully, all of our wares will end up on the street, being used against people. Semi auto rifles, various class 3 firearms and sound surpressors are things we really fear about losing. Its all about situational awareness and common courtesy. Lock up that gun John Wayne, talk to us before you take it out, and life will be easy.
