I work for a high end boutique that specializes in baby clothes and furnishings. We are running a store promotion right now where you get an additional 20% off when you sign up for the mailing list on your next purchase. Seems simple enough, right? I had a customer today walk in today and say they signed up for the mailing list.
As I explained to her “Ma’ma unfortunately you can only use that coupon on your next visit”
Customer “your manager said that she would allow me to use it”
“Who did you speak to”
“The manager”
“Well I am the manager and our policy is that you get the additional discount on your next purchase”
“Well she said I could use it”
At this point my patience is going and I can clearly tell she isn’t going to take the hint.
“Well, ma’am I can give you the discount this time but you have to know that it will not be acceptable if you try to do this again tomorrow”
“Yea yea ok”
I ring her up for the baby clothes, defeated and worn down that I had to argue with someone over trying to cheat the system. If that wasnt enough when I go to check the fitting room she was using I find a used diaper for me to clean up.
