I work at a video store, and it’s been a week after my vacation.
Everything was going well this morning, but then I got that one customer!! She rented a new video and then said ” one more thing”
me: yes,
Her: well i guess your pretty busy and all, and isn’t against your video store, but you really need to fix your nails, you work at a public service job…it puts a bad impression on you and you are dealing with the public using your hands…
me: okay, I will fix it.
Her: they are so nasty to look at ( saying to me and then walking away)
Looking down at my nails I already know the nail color is chipped, (obviously, I didn’t walk in to work thinking about my nails)
Me: politely smiling back (really just crying inside) and then running to the back to find a red marker to color my nails with. :_(
The entire day I tried to hide my nails from the other customers, because I was embarrassed, and depressed.
Thanks for the tips, I didn’t expect/need a lecture. and seriously I don’t work in a high fashion, hotel or restaurant where people judge me based on my looks. I KNOW I LOOK PROFESSIONAL,(I am wearing business causal, at a video shop) AND I HAVE GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS.
Seriously, stop staring, and lecturing others about appearance. I understand your point, but I think I wouldn’t have been that upset about the comment, if you and told me as a joke or something, but lecturing strangers about appearance doesn’t help.
